Affiliate disclosure

Published in line with UK Competition and Markets Authority guidance on identifying paid-for promotion clearly, and the comparable expectations of the Advertising Standards Authority.

The arrangement

Several outbound links here are affiliate links. If you subscribe to a provider after following one, that provider may pay us a share of what you spend. The rate differs between providers, which is exactly why it is kept away from the testing and away from the ordering of the rankings.

It costs you nothing extra

Commission comes out of the provider's margin rather than being added to your bill. The price is the same whether you arrive through this site or type the address yourself. No surcharge for using our links, and no discount withheld from anyone who does not.

What money cannot buy

A position in the rankings is not for sale. No provider has been moved up for paying more, and none has seen a review before publication. Our order comes out of the fault logs, and the service we rank first is not the one paying us most.

We also test providers that pay us nothing, and we write plainly about ones that do. Where a service we earn from performed badly over the quarter, that appears in its write-up in the same words we would use for anybody else. A disclosure that only ever accompanied praise would be worth nothing.

What the commission funds

It pays for the subscriptions themselves, the hardware they run on, the broadband they run over, and the three months of watching each one takes. That is what allows us to pay full price for everything rather than depending on providers to hand out free accounts, which is the arrangement that quietly compromises most review sites.
